Summary:

Goldbelt, Inc. is in search of a Senior Accountant in Newport News, VA. Responsibilities include all daily accounting functions in support of Goldbelt, Inc. subsidiaries including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, billing, monthly financial report preparation, and other reporting responsibilities. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other members of the Accounting Team, Subsidiary Management and other departments as necessary.

 

This position is contingent upon a contract award.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of relevant cost accounting principles, GAAP, as well as FAR regulations
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to embrace change, learn quickly, and thrive in a dynamic corporate environment
  • Skill in working harmoniously within cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.

  • Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment. This includes a proficiency in standard software applications, including Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with strong knowledge of Excel 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working with government contracting
  • Government contract accounting experience and a working knowledge of relevant cost accounting principles, GAAP, as well as FAR regulations
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating in multi-subsidiary environments strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs)
  • Previous government contracting experience

 

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 annually.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the accounts payable by reviewing/posting accounts payable and monitoring to ensure timely payment
  • Sets up contracts and task orders in the accounting system
  • Reconciliation of all accounts. Reconciliation includes preparation of schedules to support all account balances
  • Billing of customer invoices
  • Billing for all intercompany costs incurred as appropriate
  • Monitor receivables and payables to ensure payments are received and made in a timely manner
  • Preparation of weekly vendor payments
  • Processing of cash receipts and bank deposits
  • Preparation of intercompany charges and reconciliation
  • Conduct clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc.
  • Assist in annual audits
  • Provides customer service support for questions and requests from other accounting team members, vendors, subsidiary staff and executive management
  • Ensures adherence to standard deadlines and timely closing in accordance with established schedule
  • Prepare monthly financial reports include income statements, balance sheets, project report and other reports as required
  • Other duties as assigned
